Becoming a Vitruvian is a special achievement. The hours of dedication before you even reach the start line is something few people understand. Race day, becoming a Vitruvian, is a celebration of that effort. We understand that the hard work is done before we welcome you to Rutland. We see our event as a way to celebrate your fortitude, perseverance and strength by inviting you into the exclusive club for those who can call themselves a Vitruvian.
The swim course is located in the sheltered bay of Whitwell creek. We have a wave start for a smooth and "calm-ish" race start. The course is well marked, sheltered from the prevailing wind and covered by an excellent safety crew.
Beginners you'll feel really well looked after and speedsters you'll be pushing for a PB!
The bike course uses the roads surrounding Rutland Water with a beautiful 3 lap route. You'll pedal through Rutland countryside, pretty Rutland villages and large woodland areas. The bike course mixes technical with head down bum up riding with a real variety of features. The new bike course is flat, fast and exciting.
The run route follows the perimeter track of Rutland Water. There's a good reason thousands of people visit this place every year and you'll see why on this route. The turn point for the run is at Rutlands most recognisable landmark, Normanton church.
Our finish line is located at the event hub in Whitwell where you'll receive a VIP welcome, some great race bling and plenty of spectator support.
